The tune is old – back from Hare Krishna days in the 70s, but I reworked the lyrics in 1978 after a particularly disturbing dream.

In a curious echo of the lyrics, I found the scrap of paper with the song just before Christmas 2025. I’ve tweaked the words somewhat, but kept the meaning and feel. It was always haunting, but Phil’s saxophone has really brought it alive, and in a strange way, taken me right back to the original dream/nightmare.

When we had finished, both Phil and I felt like we anted to do more with the music. I was reluctant to tamper with what we already had – it was always a bit of a museum piece for me and it’s tight structure worked very well for me. The answer was to just lift the tune and use it for something else – a new song altogether: Dancing in Iran.
