There’s a stretch of road between Talog and Meidrim where the verge and hedgerow is quite overwhelming in its richness and beauty. I don’t go that way too often but over the years this song – about Spring in Wales – has gradually emerged.
Special thanks to David Thomas for help with the welsh bit which was both daunting and exciting to do, and also to Caerthan for helping with the mix, which my deaf ears can’t quite manage on their own.

Very sweet song, thank you. I’ve spent the last few weeks tramping these very lanes and footpaths to take some guests along them. First walk was yesterday, and yes, they were blown away by the hedgerows!

Awesome to have songs written about the local area!
And a fab song too! x
Rick Westhorpe says
Thank you – it’s an inspiring place to live!

How beautiful! It somehow reminds of a film I really like, ‘The Wicker Man’ – earthy and Celtic. I especially like the concept of ‘hearing the colour blue’. Will definitely play this more.
Rick Westhorpe says
Thanks Sal! Loved the Wicker Man too – have you seen Midsommer? For me that film was like a spiritual successor to the Wicker Man.
‘Hearing the colour blue’ – once something goes into memory is there a limit on how we might perceive it? Is what we bring to a memory as important as the memory itself?
No I’m not stoned! Really glad you enjoyed it! x

Lovely! Love cow parsley and great to hear it mentioned in song! Hedgerows gorgeous here in penwith too and the bluebells are still here which means its a very weird year!
Rick Westhorpe says
Thanks Helen – loads of bluebells going strong over here too!

Rick Westhorpe says
Thanks Wolf! Remember the stitchwort …

I was trying to work out if it might be our hedgerow but honestly a lot of the hedgerows here are stunning at the moment.
Keep slowing down, last year I saw some orchids.
Beautiful song by the way
Rick Westhorpe says
Thanks Nikki – it is ALL the hedgerows! They are incredible right now –
the first one that inspired the ‘slow down’ bit of the song a couple of years is the one at the top of the hill leading down to Dyffryn Stores, between Talog and Meidrim, but it’s … everywhere.
Liesje says
I thought it might of been yours too, but as Rick says that are all very glorious in the spring!
Tess Sinden says
Beautiful!
Rick Westhorpe says
Thanks Tess! I know you care deeply for what’s around you too – we are so lucky here …
